Spread trading provides an opportunity to profit from increases or decreases in the prices of financial instruments. You trade in Rand per point movement so no need to have additional exposure to the currency market.
Spread trading with BlackStone Futures has a number of benefits:
A Spread Trading Example
The quote (price) on GBP/USD is 1.5012 – 1.5015
You believe that the price will rise
You buy for R10 per point at 1.5015
The market moves as expected and you decide to close your trade
The price now is 1.5021 – 1.5024
You sell at 1.5021 for R10 to close
Your profit is (1.5021 – 1.5015) x R10 = R60
If the price had fallen and you decided to close then you would take a loss on the trade.
